Slop returns after Poly dogbone upgrade...
a while back I replaced my dogbone mount bushings with ES poly bushings. It made a huge difference and all was well for a while. When I replaced them, I followed the recommendations of not replacing the round bushing that is supposedly prone to breaking. We it's been probably 10k miles and I feel slop in the mount again. I'm guessing the soft stock round bushing is the culprit. I looked at it last night and there are definite signs of cracking. I still have the ES round bushing sitting on my shelf in the garage.
My question is, should I go ahead and replace the stock bushing with the ES one? How long do they usually last before they break?

Did you use new bolts? If not, you might want to check the torque on them; also..>>
You could tighten the compression bolt (the long one) more than spec that will tighten up things a bit too.

according to suspension.com its the bushings that break...
and as I was advised by others on the forum.

I do remember someone posting a golf that had ripped the tranny mount off the tranny itself, but I think there was something else going on there.

no, I reused the bolts...
I looked it over last night and all seems to be tight. I'm pretty sure the slop is coming from the oem bushing, but when I have it out tonight I'll check the torque on all the bolts. I might just go ahead and replace the round bushing. I doubt the noise will bother me and if it breaks they're cheap enough to replace.

Well...about 20K on it...>
I think that could make a difference. It's the only real area for potential slop except the round one...Pull it off and look...easy job as you know!

yeah, replacing the round bushing looks like a potential pita though...
looks like it has a metal sleeve and will need to be pressed out. I don't have a press yet, but maybe my air hammer will work.
