Default SO - I'm getting to the bottom of more car troubles.... if you're been reading along with my saga

you know that after I blew my engine speed sensor at TT East and had the car flatbedded to Alabama, I then had a few minor mishaps (Wahler vs OEM thermostat replacement) at home culminating in hitting some road debris and cracking my BBS rim, disintegrating my strut bearing and causing all sorts of havoc with the TT. As of last week I was taking bids on my soon to be demodding..... then I took the car in for an alignment and all was right with the world.... until this past Monday. (I usually get only a 12 hour reprieve after my car feels great before it breaks again!)

It just hasn't felt right driving wise, has felt flat boost wise, has torn another DV diaphragm or 2 and also has been making a bunch of noises in the back and been grinding into 3rd a lot more. Fun.

So today I had it.... car felt BAD. At one point I got out and checked the wheel bolts thinking a tire was going to come off.... all was fine as I have ben checking these more often recently. It was HOT making the car feel flat and I keep hearing a tinking sound from the back (which I can only imagine is a sway bar or wheel bearing....)

I pop the hood and take the Forge strut caps off and lo and behold.... the strut bearing which was recently replaced and re-aligned is popping out of the damn strut tower on an angle. Not all of it, just some - but still!!!

Damn and I just had it aligned. So, that needs a fixin'!

I then Vag-ed the car and came up with the same secondary air injection DTC I've been seeing once a week or so.... opening up the DV-R lid resulted in the biggest tear I've ever witnessed in my DV diaphragm. Just no luck recently with my relocation set-up. I popped in a replacement and swapped the DV into the reverse orientation to see if that'll help. Guess I'm still working through the bad batch of diaphragms that came with my DV-R. (maybe it's time for another piston style)

And, while re-adjusting that, I noticed some cracks in a hose at the top of my upper samco.... guess that could possibly be giving me a little less vaccuum at idle? (I sit at -15 now instead of the usual -20. On highway it's -25.) Everything else seemed good and these seemed to be the only cracked hose in there..... what hose is that short black one and what does it do/feed?

I guess 111,958 miles on it makes her tired!

Default yep - if you can stick your thumb through it, it's probably busted!

Default When my vacuum check valve cracked, I was only getting

-5"hg at idle. It idled fine, but made the DV flutter with the lower vacuum pressure and eventually threw a CEL.

of DV-R diaphragms (about 5 now) and now it might be time for soemthign else... man, my car is hard on the boost!

Default the Bailey is a piston. Junked it and had to send it back to the manufacturer for a replacement.

It can be done - I did it!

Ditto, keep it simple and just get a non-adjustable piston valve.

Hyperboost HX seems pretty good too.

but that was what the Bailey was. Is there a different/better one?
