Default A solution for the privacy shelf rattle/noise

I am refusing to get used to my 2000 TT's privacy shelf rattle! It has been replaced years ago; no fix...

What I tried this weekend was to tape the two halves of the shelf with electric tape while pressing the two halves together with the other hand. I taped the entire circumference of the shelf; causing the two halves to be tightly pressed together with electric tape, which was stretchy.

No more rattle!

The problem: The electric tape and the surface of the plastic frame did not like each other; so the tape came off slowly. I will find a better sticking tape and be done with the rattle. (The tape will be black next time too, instead of the current green )

Default You can also...>

Separate the frame halves and clear sliicone it all back together. The 2 halves just clip together. There should be info in the archives from years ago if you search "Privacy shelf", "Shelf", or "shelf Rattle"..

Default its actually the plastic-to-plastic rubbing that wears over time that causes the rattling...

you can use liquid rubber 'on' the clips. paint the liquid rubber on the clips, let dry, snap back together and you're done.

Default Flowable silicone that you use for windscreens works great

just run it down the crack and leave it overnight...no need to dismantle it
