2001 TT convertible with the factory Boze system. A while back I was driving down the interstate and horrendous noise started coming out of the speaker. It was at full volume and sounded like someone dragging the input leads of an amplifier across fabric or something.....not continuous and not a buzzing.....but loud. The volume **** had no effect, other than making the music play louder in the background. A problem the amplifier unit???

Also, this happened late last year and I'm pretty sure turning the radio off had no effect.....the noise still occurred. I had to pull the head unit out of the center console and remove the 5A fuse to de-energize the system.
A better way of describing what it sounded like would be the noise an AM or FM tuner (the old style non-digital types) would make while turning the tuning **** and scanning across the dial.
