Spoiler just came in.
I just picked up a spoiler off ebay.
Its the 3.2 spoiler but, they painted the whole thing. The part that is usually black is now Aviator. It looks really good and its a bit different.
Now that you know what I'm working with...
I have the stock spoiler on now, and its going to have to go obviously. I've been told that there is some heavy duty gunk holding that spoiler on.
So, would heating this stuff up soften it enough to get the spoiler off?
Any tips there?
Once its off, I'll probably need to get some sort of glue to put back in there... or is that not really a huge deal?
I'm really thinking about not doing it, simply because I thought it would be taking out 4 bolts and bolting the new one on. Easy cheese.
If anyone could offer me any tips to make the install go smooth as possible, I would be forever grateful.
I don't want to jump into it blind and scratch something or give up half way through... if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it.

Re: Spoiler just came in.
if its not worth the time and someone else with an AG TT wants to do this, I'll let it go for the same amount I bought it for. if you're super interested email me at Vanhalenman@aol.com
I'd really like to get it on, but its not a big enough deal for me to take a day off work for a damn spoiler.

Re: SpoilerDirect? They do pretty good work.
Whats spoiler direct?
Are they local in Kansas City, I never really thought about paying someone to do it, but then again, its not really worth it to me. I thought, hey I'll buy the spoiler and take 20 minutes to put it on, tadaaaa...
But it seems like it isn't so easy.

He was talking about who you bought it from.
As for installation, I think it's the bolts & double sided tape. You can use fishing line to cut through the tape, then get rid of the rest with goo gone or something. just be careful not to screw up the paint. :^)
Then when installing the new one, get some new tape ... I think 3M makes special auto body tape & put it back on.

just did a install on saturday..to a 3.2>>
man this takes time. the glue is so hard to get through. my tip is work through one part and then get fishing line heavey duty test, or metal wire and do a sawing motion. it took me ruffly 4 hrs start to finish. good luck.

looking at my old spoiler, I'd say skip it >
it looks like an epoxy - not much flexibility. You could risk damaging the paint on an exposed surface sawing through it with floss or fishing line, much less with something more serious - though I'm sure it's been done - and might end up repainting the whole hatch. Just buy the add-on if that's what you want.
