Default Squeak/Creak Diagnosis Followup

After my third trip to the dealer, the latest which has lasted 8 days for what was to be 1 day, I told them Friday that I wanted the car back today, either fixed or put back together.

They called this morning. (first time they have called me) They were friendly but not apologetic and said that they had talked to Audi and had determined that the noise was caused by the front sway bar bushings. I told them as politely as I could that it was ironic because I had told them a month and three service visits ago that most likely that's what they would find and even gave them printouts from posts on this forum. The guy's tone changed and he informed me that even when customers come in with specific descriptions of problems, they prefer to determine the problem on their own by performing a thorough inspection of the car.

I continue to be impressed with how dumb the world is becoming.

I remember your post from several days ago. It's quite possible that I may have given them one of your earlier posts when I tried to convince them in the beginning. Too bad some folks just have to do it the hard way. Thanks.

Default Is there no TSB on this issue yet?

If not there should be-- this would ease future pain such as this. Customer could simply print out the TSB, which would be probably be taken more seriously by the stealership than a couple of printouts from an internet forum.

Default But what is the fix? Replacing with the same bushings means they start two squeak again in a couple

years, right?

Default cut off plastic sleeve, replace with 1mm smaller bushing>>

that's what I'd do at least. As I understand it, the plastic sleeve on the swaybar itself is what fails.
