Default Stage 3 stock bottom end still going strong 25000+ miles later

Here is a vid of my now GT3071R stage 3 TT daily driver, got bored of the GT2871R and the GT30R is much better turbo all around.
Here is a video to show how a stage 3 setup can be reliable and powerful, even with stock engine. In the video you will see 30-130 in about 12-13 seconds rolling on the throttle.
180 FWD baby!!No body kit,no underhood "dressup"stuff, just stuff that functions.

Copy & paste for some TT love

Default Stock internals on my 225 stgIII+....

and mine is running great. Of course mine has the GT2871R. I like the turbo. Very driveable in everyday traffic, and a screamer when I ask it to be. So far I have almost 11K miles and 8 months on the kit. Still satisfied with it.

Lowcountry, what all did you do? Where did you get your kit?

Default My turbo went kaput due to shaft seal issues IIRC...

Tech pulled the oilpan and found bits of metal, so everything came out and was taken apart. The head was sent out for ultrasonic cleaning and valve seal replacement. The rings and rod bearings were also replaced. I should have upgraded the rods at that time (so I could continue upping my hp with mods like IM, throttle body, etc.), but I was pouring so much money into it that I passed on that upgrade. The kit I went with was the stageIII+ from APR (bought it directly from them). The claimed numbers are 383hp, and 360tq, whis is within the stock internals' ability to handle. I do imagine that at some point in the next couple of years I'll upgrade the rods, IM, TB, port/polish, etc. Right now I'm good, and the car runs well and reliably.

The car in the video had a GT2871R on it previously and dynoed 381whp @ 28 psi boost...the car is MUCH faster now,and am predicting it will be making a EASY 400+whp pull.
71k on stock motor from oil pan to head, still going strong.
I am loving the TT now,it s finally a FAST car and not just a QUICK car.

Default Went over the invoice...

also replaced crank and cam seals, upgraded to Spec stageII clutch, and put in a new OEM flywheel.

Default You're running REVO software I presume...

and you did 381 at the front wheels with a GT2871R? That's pretty good! Even if I'm actually getting APR's claimed 380-385 at the crank, I'd be lucky to get 310 at the wheels. Now you suppose that you're 400+ at the wheels and on stock 180 internals? That says a lot for the strength of those rods. I think it's probably a gamble, though. I've seen first-hand a chipped 225 bend a rod on pump gas, and the 225 rods are beefier than the 180 rods IIRC. If you can make that kind of power and not break anything then that's awesome. If anything does break, though, I'd think there'd be some $eriou$ hell to pay.

Yes,I was pushing that little turbo and they do not like high boost.
My engine is the early ATC engine with 16V rods in it,so are the strongest 1.8T rods other than the 225 AMU rods.
I ALWAYS run Torco fuel accelerator giving me 100+ octane and NEVER run straight pump, since octane booster optimizes performance (0-2 degr. timing pull @ 25+ psi)and is cheaper than a new motor.
WIll be doing rods sometime in the near future. If you look under my youtube user name the video of the 381whp dyno is on there as well.Have fun, sounds like you got a nice setup as well!!

av got a simaler set up to yours but with gt2871r
it was at 28.5psi but it never held boost! it dropped off after a second!
it's a new maf, new actuator, new pcv valve, new bov, turbo don't whistle! Only done 30k most lady driving lol.
I have checked all pipework and pressured it no leaks, has no n249 or n112had full service!, no fault codes!
i have got vag.com recently but its all in excel format!! not sure how to convert it to graphs.
Lol ANY help will be great or if you could direct me to the location on the forum
