I'll second that. I've had a couple 944 Turbos. They have to be one of >>
the best "bang for the buck" trackable cars out there. Tons of mods available, relatively bulletproof drivetrain, and go kart like handling. IMHO, one of the best handling/best balanced Porsches ever built for the street.
And, DAMN cheap! The down side is that the can be farghin expensive to fix unless you have someone with the necessary skills to help you or do the work. Dealer wanted almost 2500 dollars to put a clutch in my last one. Told em to F-off, and did it with my side mech for about 900 bucks. Parts alone were 630 for a Sachs Cup clutch kit.
FUN CAR!!!

RELATED QUESTION: What's the most TTQ-like car, as far as handling goes, for $15k or less?
Most common track cars are RWD, and I'd prefer to stay with an AWD car. Particularly one with TT-like dynamics, so that I can auto-X the TT and track the (whatever), and drive them both with similar styles so that what I learn in one car can be used in the other.
I'm not buying a track car anytime soon, but it's an interesting question... what cars behave like the TT?
Mitsu Eclipse GSX? Audi Coupe Quattro? Coupe GT? Old subaru coupe/sedan?

For that money, you could have a nice and competitive race car...Why just drive when you can race?
You could buy a competitive Spec Miata for $10K. If you don't want to race yet, it would still make a nice (and safe-if you build it right) track car in the interim.
