Default Sun Damage, New Rings, clear coat flaking

Ok so I've had my 2002 TT since it was new, and it now has over 112,000 Miles on it. I couldn't be happier with the car. I've only just replaced the brakes and rotors for the 1st time. Just put in a new brake light switch (easy fix but the first I've done myself)

I've got a few problems I'm not so sure about.

1. I've got sun damage on the roof rack frames. What can I do to fix this? Do I just need to get it repainted?

2. The Audi rings fell off a few years back while washing my car. The dealership said to use a scraper to get the rest of the dried glue off. What should I use so I do not damage the paint?

the roof rails are aluminum and will need to be refinished and repainted. Many, if not all, have had corrosion problems because audi failed to prep them properly for painting. some have had success with audi picking up the tab for the fix, others have not. best to start at audi, pitch a fit, and see if they will fix or at least help out with the cost.

IT IS NOT SUN DAMAGE..if it were, the rest of the roof would have the same damage. it's because of the poor paint prep at the factory.

you can remove the adhesive using goo-gone. just apply and rub gently. given the age of the car, there will most likely be shadows in the paint after the adhesive is removed. you might be able to either remove the shadow-rings completly or at least reduce it with a good polish.

good luck
