Talked to Audi about my 3.2 TTR today...

It's been sitting at port in Germany since late Aug, and a number of ships have come and gone since then.

According to the fellow from Audi, a hold was placed on my TTR. This sort of flies in the face of the supposed "rush" that was placed on the car by the manufacturer.

He wasn't sure why the hold was placed. If true, I am speculating that perhaps the 3.2 TTRs aren't supposed to be released to the public just yet.

So I was hoping for a late Sep delivery. Indeed, the boat I thought it would be on came in 3 days ago. Now it's looking like late Oct to sometime in November.

They're being pretty cool about things so I can't bitch too loud. They also agreed to cover the costs of a brake job on my 2001 TTR due to the delay, as the brake wear sensor light just came on.

What my dealer said...

I'm waiting on a 3.2TTC which is now "intransit" which I understand means has been built and on its way. Could be in the same "boat" so to speak as 8's - held up at the German port. The dealer has two other 3.2s (one a TTR) in similar status. I get the feeling AoA is holding them back to clear out the remaining 2003...

Hard to say. However...

In transit probably means that it's on a ship enroute to the U.S. Mine still shows as completed and inspected, waiting for a ship (or something like that).

In the Grand Scheme of Things, an extra month or month and a half isn't a huge deal, but it's kind of frustrating having your car sitting on the docks for over a month while I could be driving it.

Audi is not running any TV or radio adds on incentives for '03's

sorry stupid quest. diff ttr-ttc?

EighTT 09-30-2003 09:43 AM

TTR=TT Roadster & TTC=TT Coupe.

"In transit" means the car has left the plant and has not yet been received by AoA.

If that's the case, then my dealer is lying because

they said TWO 3.2TT's are on their way here (Bay Area), one silver TTC with my name on top of the list ;-) and one black TTR..

I guess we'll see when they get here. They were supposed to be released from port last Friday, but that didn't happen..

Hey Brad, since you're in San Diego, maybe you could pay the port a visit and check out the truth in these statements ;-)

When I ordered my 2003 TT, it sat at the dock until Audi cleared more of the 2002s

Audi basically delayed the 2003 TT model year to allow for the significant 2002 product to move. Even though my 03 was a customer order, all of them were held at the port in Germany.

Audi paid for two additional months on my 2000 TT lease and then my dealer gave me an A4 to drive for a few weeks until my 03 came in.

If there are no 3.2TTs in the US at this point, I'd bet that Audi is holding them to allow the current 225 stock to deplete.

The 3.2s are starting to arrive now.
