My other car is a '01 Chrysler T&C Minivan ("people mover" for those of you in the UK) with 43K miles (7K miles & 15 months out of warranty) and the AC failed.

I took it to my local dealer on Saturday and they quickly diagnosed it as needing a new condensor (compressors are, however, covered under a secret 7-yr warranty) and would need $1,100 to fix. The service writer was very understanding and felt bad since this seemed to be a common problem resulting from the placement of the condensor. He gave me Chrysler's 800 number and suggested I call and try to appeal.

Today I got on the phone with Chrysler -- explained the problem and after geting routed to 2nd level support. They called the dealership and when they got back to me, I was offered a compromise to get it fixed for $400 and I jumped on it. For reference, another repair place quoted $600.

I called the dealer back to schedule the repair and actually got in right away with a loaner car to boot.

Now I realize that this is way off topic, but I wanted to share how well I was treated.
