thinking about custom Stage 3 for my 225TT
I have access to a very good fabricator that is willing to take on this project for me. My main concern is clearance for the turbo. Do you think a T3T04e could fit?? Guys on Vortex are runnig this setup with Revo programming and pulling 300+whp on pump gas. BTW my fabricator is the crew cheif for the number 1 Porsche Factory team in the country (hintI heard the biggest issue with the 225 is lack of space between the firewall and manifold. Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated. TIA

I would assume you will pay as much for custom as just going MTM......
I can't see doing one off projects when you can get a completely engineered product for the car from an audi specialist.

yup, problem #1 is the brakebooster line
that happens to run RIGHT between where your new big turbo will set and the firewall. i burned thru mine. the brakebooster line snakes ALL OVER the engine bay, unnecessarily so imho, but audi engineers probably decided to cool it or something. anyway, i swapped in a mark IV brakebooster line or something.
but my GT30R fit ok with about 1~1.5" of gap between compressor housing (0.73 C/R) and firewall padding.
big problem #2 is the wastegate. i'm using an ATP exh manifold, which has the WG going straight down. this is ok on VWs, but not ok on quattro cars, which have a bigger tranny up front. i would recommend slightly angling the WG flange on the exh manifold. incidentally, i used a 35/40mm Tial, for height reference.
hope that helped! cant think of anything else, as this was all a year ago.
dig thru my fotki acct for pics, im too lazy to find them =P

Hey Ken, Did you see the Turbo Pics?
Sorry you dodn't have a chance to drop by and see the turbo.. I did take some pics, though. You can find them in my Allbrand.nu account.

The car is still in the shop, will be out by Wednesday, though. They are also installing the sensors for the 5 Defli link BF gauges. I think they are gonna make a little adapter for the oil temp because it is too deep. Is your solution a better one?

Cost would be substantially less
than any Stage 3 kit including the current APR 180 Stage 3. There is a 337 GTI here in Orlando with a custom T304e setup with Revo putting down over 300whp on pump gas. My friend Scott is kicking himself because he bought "an engineered kit" from APR for his 337 and can't even sniff those hp numbers on race gas. This setup will be less than $4k guaranteed. Price out all of the parts including fuel pump, injectors, waste gate and the turbo etc.

hey chris (or was it kit?), i did see the pics...
when you posted them a week or two ago, but encountered your host's bandwidth limiter. can't wait to get a ride =D
my oil pan solution worked a-ok. jeff bipes seemed to have done something similar recently and reported no problems. i've had mine in for a few months now.
keep me posted! i'm in vail for thanksgiving but the weekend after, maybe i can come check it out?
