Those with upright bike carriers, what model do you have? how do you like it?

I recently picked up a used cannondale with a lefty fork and I need to get an upright bike carrier to mount on my OE roof bars. (My road bike is a lot simpler, I just take off the wheels and put it in the trunk.)

I noticed Thule has a few different models, some that hold the front tire and others that hold the frame.

Does anyone have experience with theses type of racks and OE TT roof bars?

I'm trying to put this bike on my TT without removing the front wheel. vvvvvvvv

Any reason not to use a fork mounted carrier? Will that not work with the lefty?

You can do it, I just prefer not to move the caliper every time I want to put it on the car

A friend of mine rode a lefty for years and the lefty fork adapter messed up his fork eventually, he recommended I stay away from a fork mount with the lefty. If the fork mount was safe I would prefer it, I hate the look of upright racks myself, but I don't really have an option.

Thanks Colby, I'm having fun with it!

I'm trying to just ride it and not to mod it, although I did order some new pedals today. I kept ripping out of the pos shimano's at the most inopportune times today. I see it more as a safety precaution.

I see. I have a Thule fork mount so I can't recommend an up-right.

I used a thule big mouth that held the frame of the bike

seemed to work fine, but I've since switched to fork-mount trays.

I made a nice long post about this for the FAQ

Although I only use the fork mount style. Nonetheless, Thule makes some good full-bike carriers that should attach the roof rails similar to the other carriers.

Here you go... Carrying bikes on roof rails
