For those of us that have no "mod shack" and no garage...
Where the heck to you go to polish and wax your TT's without having it sitting under the blazing sun?
I tried doing it my office's parking lot under the covered parking spaces and the rent-a-cop gave me a hard time. Took the TT to the park and tried to park it under a tree, park police made me move it and lectured me about "inappropriate use" of park facilities (WTF??)... |
I do it at my car wash place...It's situated just right that no sun hits the back bay...
|
Yeah, that worked out for me once, when I did it in the middle of the night.! OTW, there's just an..
endless stream of SUV's, pickup trucks, and ricers getting their cars washed any time of the day. Water spray hits the car. Also, night time florescent lighting makes it easy to miss spots,
as I have found out! |
I have always washed/waxed either early in the morning or late in the day where I have shade . . .
otherwise I wash/wax in the sun. I have never noticed any difference. Most people wash/wax in the sun, not everyone has shade.

Where the heck do you live?????
In Chicago during the winter I will often take my car to various parking garages and do the cleaning. Sometimes the security guy will come and we talk a while and we talk about my car. He will sit in the car sometimes.
I would suggest just keep trying. This world is full of wonderful people. |
wish I had a garage to offer, Ray....I can't even wash my car here......will you have a garage when
you move?
|
South Florida, yeah hum...
where paranoia, lack of trust, and rudeness abound! (at least the case when trying to use public places for spiffing up the car)
|
OOO YEAH! 2-Car garage and a hometheater above the garage...
talk about Paradise!
|
Hmmm yeah, the car wash sometimes and the park sometimes.......
but it's a pain (in a way) cuz being the only TT around here i end up talking (or shooing the rednecks away) more than waxing.
I usually wait until evening and do it at home... after 7 pm is a lovely time to wax and enjoy my time with Baby, if it's too warm to do it during the day. :) |
Please put me on the guestlist!...BTW, I got 6 boxes and assorted packing materials empty today...
need 'em...if so give me a call 561-482-0028
|
You're always welcome...once there are roads to get there!
SOunds great, I'll give you a call in a few mins!
:) |
I hope New Smyrna is better. I plan to retire there in a few years.

Sort of like this...

the room above the garage has a small surround system with a leather couch that folds out into a queen size bed. SD

Nice room!! Mine will not be as nicely appointed....
It's a 22' x 14'6" room that will mostly be dedicated to 2-channel analogue and digital audio.
There will be assorted wall treatments to damp the highs a bit. Also wall to wall berber. Hardwood floors and electrostatic speakers do not get along. Home theatre will come later, when I can afford a flat lcd panel so that the room acoustics don't get disrupted too much. |
1700w in the Garage
The new garage will have 6 speakers, 2 15" subs (all in-wall Triads) with 5 amplifiers. Good for general listening. Tuning the room's acoustics will be tricky with the concrete floors. Cool...
My starting point will be the Sunfire Signature
1,300w/channel @4 ohm. A pair of Martin Logan CLS's, and a Martin Logan Descent subwoofer (1,000 watt amp built-in). Once the room is tweaked for stereo (and the budget permits), I will get the rest of the speakers (ML center channel and ML Scripts), Sunfire Cinema Grande amp, Sunfire Theatre Grand preamp/processor, and a flat LCD screen. This is a very long term project due to the cost :-) |
