Default or even easier if you just replace the outer end, which is usually the part that wears out... unless

you live in the snow belt, and the adjuster threads are seized due to corrosion.... wouldn't know about that here in Atlanta =)

What do you recommend for a ball joint tool? I'm curious as I may need to replace mine soon. I did this job on my old car, but with one of the air hammer attachments meant for ball joints. I'd like something that works mechanically and will not damage any boots in the process.

Default To remove the lower ball joint (not tie rod end ball joint) for replacement, use a pickle fork....

shouldn't need the air hammer, but use it if you got it. You'll kill the boot, but it gets replaced with the new ball joint.
