Default Took belly pan off today to change oil, right inner CV joint

boot leaking. 02 225 QC, Car has only 5K miles, no abuse. Anyone else seen this? Made an appointment to get it fixed at dealership. Anything to look for once it's fixed. Told the manager I wanted to check it out while it's on their lift after it's fixed before they reinstall the pan.

Default I haven't seen that before on such low mileage, but my car already had an oil leak at 5k... Must>

have been a bad boot from the factory I'd guess.

if i remember right they have to separate the hub from the arm to remove the axel. if so get the alignment checked upon replacement of the boot. this will be covered by your warranty wont it?

Default Found a pen-point sized hole in mine (CV BOOT THAT IS!) upon

close inspection. Probably a manufacturer defect in the boot itself. Service manager said I could wait on it but preferred I bring it in. Costly repair if CV Joint gets trashed.

well the shop i used to work at would always remove the cv from the car to repair them. as it is okword to replace the boot on the car and some times it is too easy to get dirt and contaminates in the boot if you try to replace and repack the boot under the car.
