Track day tire decisions...
Bringing my SLK55 to a track event at Limerock on Friday. Weather calling for 70% of rain.
I have a new mounted set of Michelin Pilot Cup Sport track tires waiting to be swapped for my current Pirelli P Zero Rosso's. I'm an Intermediate 2 solo driver who hasn't driven on track tires.
I'd like to get some runs in and am concerned about track tires in the rain.
I'm driving to the track from NYC about 2 hours on the tires I choose.
Thanks for the advice.

I'd think brand new michelins would be fine on a damp track. Does it get puddles?
The primary concern would be if you drive hard enough to wear off the tread, and then have to drive home 2 hours in the rain.

I'd hold off - especially if you are driving to and from the track with them...
also depends on how cold it's going to be because you really need more heat in em on the track to be as sticky - harder to do in the wet - especially in the am.

I'm in agreement. those have some tread, they'd be fine. that said, no reason to scuff em up
if you aren't even going to be able to push hard enough to really use em. leave the pirelli's on.

Just mounted a set of Nitto NT-01's - was looking at R888's but the price difference
was nutz. Toyo just jacked the price up to $220 each for the 235/40/17 and I picked up the NT-01's for $160 each. Apparently they are the same compound - different tread design. Can't wait to try em out.
