Ok...so crazy question. I've got an '01 225 TTRQ. What is the typical interval people are changing their trans fluid? I have a friend who does happen to work for the Audi dealer and he's telling me that they do NOT recommend changing it. I find this mind boggling but he said they had more trouble w/ them after people were changing fluid than when they left it alone. is this possible?

I'm planning to do the T-Belt in the next couple weekends (66k) and I wanted to hit some other things while I was doing this.

Pentosin Automatic Transmission Fluid and a new filter.

I changed mine in my A6 around 100K.

Yea I would also like to know what kind of transmission fluid to use for a 5 speed TT fwd. Probably wouldn't be different than your quattro, but I find that very weird that it would be better to leave the fluid alone. Makes no sense at all..

I recommend when you change ur tranny oil to get Auto-RX engine/tranny cleaner and put some in with the fluid. I'm going to once I figure out how to change the fluid haha and what kind to use.

Most people seem to use Redline Synthetic fluid for the trans... That is what I'm using in my 200 quattro w/ 5 spd manual. I wanted to change the fluid in the TT, but was surprised my friend was telling me not to

Redline or Amsoil works well. Helps with the 2-3 shift.

Have you done the Haldex yet? Change the oil every 20K and filter every 40K.

You need a special wrench to remove the filter.

yeah I've been having the Haldex changed every 20, but was surprised he keeps telling me not to mess with the trans fluid. First I'd ever heard to not change it. Thanks

We've been getting good feedback about redline MTL and MT-90. Like AudiMick said, it very noticeably helps with 2-3 shifts. It generally smooths out shifts across all the gears. It isn't very pricey and the cost is definitely worth the benefit!
