I own a '01 Quattro 225 Coupe and I have been noticing something mighty unsettling. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd with the RPM over 4500 I get a nice little grind. At first I thought that it was just my inability to drive a car. Then one evening I was able to nail it down and be able to reproduce it. I have done several searches of the forum that turned up many issues with the early FWD 2nd gear synchro problems but, nothing on my particular tranny. Anyone else having this very same issue? What is the best way for me to approach the service department and, should I be expecting no less than a new tranny? Please advice. I am almost in tears over this.

This is an isolated incident, as the quattro tranny has thus far been very reliable (unlike the FWD, in my view).

Take the car to the dealer, and there's no reason that they shouldn't be able to successfully repair this.
