TT "production #" ???
The dealer gave me a "production #" for my TT on order. It's a 5 digit number preceeded by an "R". Does anyone know the significance of this number - or it's relevance to delivery ? I'm hoping it means the car is actually being built. The dealer says it'll be here in January. If so, shouldn't a VIN be available soon ?

Re: TT "production #" ???
You seem to be right on track with your order. In my case the car was ordered in early June and I got that RXXXX order number. From then on it was a matter of the dealer plugging that number into the tracking system they have and getting a status on the car. It starts with order, then release to production, then in production, then production complete, then ship loaded, then in transit, then port arrival, then release to carrier, then delivered to dealer. My car was produced in week 32 (August 9th) at which time a VIN was assigned. The car left Germany on the ship on Sept 1 and sailed to Houston, Tx. On Sept 13 I was told "in port". On Sept 20 "released to carrier". Car was delivered here in Virginia Sept 28. So it was about 7 weeks from production to delivery.

Re: TT "production #" ???
Mine is a week 33 car and I don't have it yet. I fully expect to get it before next Friday, but who knows. I think it arrived in Housten on the 23rd and as of last Friday it was still in Transit. My dealer only runs a report once per week, so I get my next status report tomorrow. I'm ready for it, I'm ready!!!
