Default Did you call first? Most dealers won't put in non-OEM parts, or won't cover the labor with a

warranty if they do...

Default Yeah, they just won't cover the parts with the standard 12 month warranty. No big loss...

They're charging me $414 labor for the TB and $15 labor for the oil change.

They're a pretty great dealer all around.

Default Look before you leap...

This is interesting...there is a TT that has a blown motor been that's sitting at an independent shop near me for OVER A YEAR. The engine failed shortly after the TB was replaced by another independent shop in a distant city...the shop that did the TB claims they did nothing wrong and refuses to do it over- hence the long wasting away of the car at the "diagnostic shop" while law suits go back and forth. Where you get services done does matter...make sure you know the best you can how well the shop backs up what they do and what their policies are regarding using carry-in parts, etc. Major services like a TB job are no place to cut corners...trying to save 2 or 300 dollars could cost many thousands later on.

Default Thanks, but I actually am not doing it this way to "cut corners." As a matter of fact

the parts that DG uses are all OEM except the water pump--which was the whole reason I ended up getting the parts from them in the first place. I wanted one with the metal impellers as the OEM is plastic and known to fail early due to breaking of the blades.

I highly doubt I'll have any issues arise from this "marriage" of DG parts and dealer service, however if I do, then I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I'd much rather go the route I'm going now, than to use the plastic impeller on the OEM pump, and my dealer understands and is working with me as best as AoA will allow.

Highly commendable on their part IMO.
