TT headlight troubleshooting
My 2000 TT coupe has an intermittent headlight (Xe), it lights up and after a minute or so goes out. Turning the headlight switch off and on turns the light back on for another minute or so. Any suggestions, other than to replace the whole assembly (as the dealer suggested)? Can the Xe lamp be replaced without replacing the entire assembly? Help point me in the right direction. Oddly, this happened on the other headlight some time ago, and the problem mysteriously went away after about a month (fixed itself).

Really depends on you |
I'm very 'mechanical' being an engineer by training, but I haven't ventured into significant depths of disassembly with this car. I'll look for a repair manual for a guide since it appears to be quite involved.

I have a similar problem - likely culprit is a failing ballast ignitor. Find one (OEM ONLY!) on eBay or Shokan & you should be able to replace it.
I just accept mine, it gets annoying, but hasn't reached a point of total failure. First check & clean the ignitor connections, if it still appears, you'll probably need a new one. |
