how would you compare the TTQ to an S4? Or for that matter, to a 1.8 New Beetle like Neil?

As for S4 vs. TTq, the S4 is definitily quicker - and you can put people in the back seat. The TT quattro obviously handles better and is more unique. Unless you get the Imola Yellow or Nogaro blue on the S4, it'll will go unnoticed to most people. The TT quattro also as the advantage of being almost $5-10k cheaper (depending on options). It's all a matter of perference in my opinion, I don't think you can go wrong with either car.
