Default 6000 dollar platinum service contract

So I go buy a used 2011 audi quattro 2.0 tt from lexus dealership. Price is 13500. After tax and other crap I am like 15k.. I put 2k down then we talk service contract warranty. He suggest platinum. Motor, engine, trans, tire, rims, key fob, then he shows my payment the same so then last document I see the plan cost 6600 dollars. I mean it is half cost of car. I feel it is way overprice . I mean now I have finances 20k instead of 13k..am I getting screwed? I know I have time to where I can cancel that service contract, should i??

how much mileage is on the car? Is it direct injection? 6600 seems like they want to cover the cost of an engine or trans. I’d rather buy an earlier model like 2006 and spend some money on a garrett turbo and a timing belt kit.

First, you have a Mk 2 and this is the Mk 1 board. You don't say how many miles on the car. The Mk 2 is proving to be very reliable. No way I'd spend that on a warranty

On an MK1 1.8L 225 horsepower quattro setup; when a rod gets thrown and it jackhammers the transfer case/Bevel Gear, a dealer quoted aboot $11,500.00 to repair. Parts, labor and lube.....

You threw a rod with a stock turbo?

My son did. It had a Unitronic tune. But it happened under normal (75 MPH) driving. We heard slight ticking a couple months earlier and changed some lifters. Turns out one of the rod crank-end bolts snapped off and the rod slowly started to bend until Ka-Pow!

oh yeah that’ll make the dealer quote the earth. As you are likely aware the Audi’s are made by Volkswagen so most vw engines work. A set of high beam rods and bobs your uncle. I’m currently rebuilding my tt engine, but was cylinder head melted. Just trying to get motivation to finish it really....

Thanks. It came out well, but rustoleum Daytona yellow was discontinued for some reason. It’s a high temp paint. Couldn’t find another so I may have to make do with John Deere yellow. I think I’m ok if I put high temp paint and primer underneath. Did you have any issues with the vvt chain? If I don’t lube mine engine won’t rotate in places manually. It locks a little. The head was completely dried out and as I don’t have it in the car I can’t crank with starter to get oil pumped around the engine.
