That is probably just a catalog error. AFAIK there isn’t any difference year to year. You can compare part numbers for various years and engine codes

What year is your car again?

Well...I am back. The saga continues.

ECS Tuning had the CAT on back order...for a long time. So I cancelled the order and picked up two walker universal CATs to be welded.

I towed the car to my local muffler shop that does welding. Well....they didn't weld it. They did a compression test on the exhaust and it was good. They took the CAT off and the mechanic said he could see thru it and it was not clogged. He checked the flex pipe with camera..all good. He did find one code for the MAF sensor, but I told him the MAF was new. He found the intake hose to the turbo was off. So he clamped it back on and called me to come get the car that the only problem the car had was the intake hose having come off.

I picked it up after hours when the shop was closed. When I drove it home, it did not boost. No boost..no turbo..just exactly back to where I was before it stopped running.

I have this Ross-Tech tool and I have no clue what to test first.

Can someone guide me how to test the Mass Air Flow sensor?

Thank you

I also wonder if this Ross-Tech cable can give me a pressure boost reading? Does anyone know a good way to test the turbo system?

You can run logs and get boost pressure graphs at rpm. Most install an analog boost gauge though. First do an AutoScan and post the error codes.
I’m not surprised that the cat was not clogged. Have you unplugged the MAF and checked if it runs better? That will give a CEL but it will go away when plugged back in.

A while back I unplugged it and it didn't seem to do anything but give me a MAF code. The car ran the same, with no boost . I could try again.

I'll do the autoscan when I leave work tonight in the parking lot. The mechanic cleared the codes...but it's been a good 80miles since then. Something should come up by now.

So it should be easier to determine what is wrong correct , now that I have a full VCDS and cable from Ross-Tech?

Yes. Easier. Not necessarily easy but we were working blind before.

Wow, what a horrible time you are having with this car. I feel bad for you
Possibly a weird question, but has anyone checked the clutch? A clutch just starting to go that only slips under full throttle or high rpms would make the car feel like it has a lack of power. Considering your tach doesnt work it might be harder to tell because you cant see the rpms.

I hope you get it figured out soon, I would seek out a local audi/vw guru.

Clutch is new.

I can see RPMs if I need to with a scanner or now with the VCDS.

Something keeps leading back to MAF. So either I was sold a bad MAF or something else within the cable harness...maybe even possible the ECU.

We'll see where this all leads to. J. Patterson maybe able to lead me to the next VCDS test to run. Hopefully it will lead to the issue. If not, if it leads me back to Audi, I will at least be more informed.

Carol
