Default Tussle with an A4, tire pressure, rear deck rattle, S2000- more

Drove to Michigan City and back yesterday (150 miles)saw my first Honda S2000 going the other way; didn't care for the looks (remember I lile Hondas). Got into a tussle with an A4 2.8 FWD that was very determined but just lacked motor, the TT really has good high speed accelleration from 80mph all the way up. The A4 just could not match the pace, although he kept trying(read, this went on for a while). Well the TT got a good work out and I did keep it safe if not sub sonic. I checked the tire pressure when I got home (warm) and was a good 12psi down on both fronts, and as I say that was with warm tires. I'm going to keep a much closer eye on my tire pressure form now on. Also my clock/day reset itself to July 1998 yesterday and having seen other post about this I thought I'd mention it. Finally I sprayed WD40 into the two snaps that hold the rear deck piece in place and the rattle, that has been bugging me and alot of you, is gone. FYI I have done this before and the rattle comes back so I intend to try something a bit heavier to lube the posts. Give this a try, it may work for you if you are have this rattle. Have a nice weekend. JIM

Default Rear Deck Rattle

I'm still waiting for my TTQ ("Any Day Now"), so I may be out of line for this recommendation, but a similar problem occurred with my wife's New Beetle and its rear deck cover. It sounds like a similar configuration (two posts into a couple of cup-like receptacles). I fixed it by getting a couple strips of stick-on velcro (any hardware/home/hobby store), and wrapping the furry side (not the needle side) around the posts. Took 2 minutes, didn't make my interior smell (I hate the smell of WD-40), and cost $1.25. Problem gone, permanently (it's been 18 months now).

Just a thought.

Thanks for the "heads up" Jim. Once again, what tire pressures do you recommend for a 180 FWD?

Light loads- cold is 33psi front - set as exact as you can; this eliminates minor front shimmy NT (nt)

When I was at TWS a couple of weekends ago there was 1 other Audi there for the Porsche Club driving event(high speed driver ed.)an A4 2.8 5sp quattro - and we didn't do battle, but were in the same run group, passed some of the same cars, but he claimed 5mph higher speed on the front straight (115 vs my 110) My 180Q was a couple of seconds slower than a RS America, but I was only passed by 1 other car - a non stock 69 Mustang besides the RS. I believe I was still 2+seconds faster than the A4, but it did very well. The TT was just a monster even with the stock Potenza's. Next time out I'd like to have some track tires - any one wish to donate some tires/wheels - send them to Don Mcgill Porsche-Audi - att. service dept! Good job blowing off the A4 - they are no slugs!
