Ugh! Before I break my tail light, is there anything holding it other than the 2 knobs?

There are a lot of great "How To's" out there, including removing tail lights, just click my sig for the TT Links and you will find lots of info and links to the best Fotki sites, which are a great help. Use it all the time. I searched and found an old link that you posted to a Jeff Bipes thread. It said to push from the inside - I ended up with a pry bar. I didn't want to bust the damn light.
