Default Um, 60,000 horsepower TT? >>>

So I was cleaning my office this weekend, and came across plans for a power plant I was involved in building about a year ago, based on a 60,000 shp gas turbine (GE Power Systems LM6000) running on Natural Gas.

This guy with the 1,100 HP TT made me think of this... maybe we could retrofit one of these suckers into a TT? Obviously we'd need some other upgrades (clutch, tranny, suspension, and a couple others) but the thing would FLY!

Dunno 'bout a bare turbine, but the full LM6000 package only runs a few million

Default In all seriousness... the retrofit idea makes me wonder why no one has.........

put a V8 in a TT yet... the racing TTs are 8's! Gotta be possible.

Default No pictures of the car, but some pictures anyway >>>

The really tall thing is the exhaust. Only about 100 feet tall. The big yellow thing is the air intake.

Sorry the pic is so small, all I have handy. (Yes, this is the plant I actually worked on)

Default Anything's possible... just not always practical. <shrug>

I'm no engine expert or anything, but there isn't a whole hell of a lot of room to put a readily available V-8 in there.

well to have 80% of the car's weight over the front wheels is not a good idea :-)

Well, my (business) ISP can't get to MSNBC either... so maybe that's it.
