Default Update on my cyl #4 misfires: frayed coilpack wire (part #s inside)..>>

this is apparently fairly common on the older cars that don't have the coilpack wire heatshield (standard on later (2001+) models).

The 'repair' for this is to buy a new overlay harness and use that to replace the wires in the engine harness that run from the coilpacks to the ecu:

Part #1J0-971-658-L Coilpack harness
Part #8L9-121-659 Coilpack harness heatshield

Default I still need to... for now I have some silcone on the backside of the connectors to cover the cracks

The wires up there take a beating with no heat shielding of any kind. Especially at the bends, the insulation just starts cracking away from the wires. I know there was TSB out to fix this on the VWs when they come in but no such luck on my TT with 82K miles on it.

As the evil mod happy friends say... "Just another reason to rewire for a stand-alone"
