Update from yesterdays "Turbo noise/lack of power" after waterpump install
I go to pick up the car after having the waterpump/t-belt/t-stat done and earlier the service guy advised me the tech noticed a loss of power in the car and wanted to look into it. I knew of nothing wrong with it prior to the waterpump failing and taking the car in. Well when I picked up the car and drove no more than a mile there was definately something wrong! I gave the car the gas and it made a low "droning" noise and had absolutely NO power. I could hear the turbo spooling up but it wasn't going anywhere. I turned right around and took it back. The check engine light came on while driving back so I had some kinda proof something was wrong. I told them that I did not drive the car after it got hot and it did NOT go full blown overheated and there has to be something wrong related to the job they did. I'm thinking that they may have gotten the timing belt a tooth or two off and therefore causing the major loss of power. They called me this morning to tell me there is a bad turbo hose, which one I have no idea. They are charging me another $70 for the repair. I am wondering if somehow they damaged one of the hoses while doing the above work I described. Anyone that has done the work themselves is there any possibility that you could "knick" a hose or have to disconnect a turbo hose to do the work? Any comments?
