Used TT 225Q or Used WRX?
I'm in a unique spot right now. My father is giving me his 2001 Audi TT
1.8T Quattro convertible. The TT has 60k miles on it, has no known defects, and is rated at 225hp stock. I'm currently driving a 2008 Toyota Tundra 4x4 and used to drive a 2005 STi before my deployment to the middle east. I have another few months here at Fort Hood in Texas and then I'm off to Germany for the next 3 years. I want to upgrade the TT's power and take it on the autobahn, but now I'm considering taking the free car and trading it for a used WRX or STi. Scooby's are so much more mod friendly and have a better record of reliability. Although there's nothing wrong with the TT, I'm worried it will eventually become a money pit. Compare that with a scooby with 60k and I think the scooby will last longer with fewer problems. Am I overreacting to all the problem posts on this website? What would you do if you were in my position and why? Thanks, Neo |
Funny you mention it. My buddy has a WRX (new) and he and I have traded to see how well the other person's vehicle drives. I have a 2002 225 Roadster. His is faster but mine handles better and is more luxurious.
Bottom line for you I think is that you should consider the free aspect. Additionally, if you're going to take it to Germany consider how easy it would be to have it tuned and worked on there. I imagine that your TT won't be the first that Germany has seen ;) I would keep the TT and see what you can do with it in Germany where parts and services are likely to be cheaper for it. |
