VW GLI test drive
In my quest for a roomier car post TT ownership, I have had my sights set on an A3. On the way, I decided to give the new VW GLI w/DSG tranny a shot.
WOW.
This is an extremely nice car, excellent value. Great handling, punchy acceleration, and smooth ride to boot (the GTI makes for a comparatively bumpy ride, more than the TT). The interior appointments are very decent as well. It's just too bad that the engine noise is rather prominent and whiny. The A3 has the same engine, but somehow sounds much more refined.
So, if anyone here is looking for a fun and sporty sedan for a good value, definitely give the GLI a try (if an A3 is not your thing).
