Default Water recirculator pump

I was tinkering with my 225QR and had the ignition key turned to the "on" position (heater blower on, radio on, etc.), but I didn't start the engine. When I was done, turned off and removed the key, the water recirculator pump was on.
Isn't that pump controlled by a temperature sensor? Because I had the key turned to "on," did the computer think the car had been running?

Default It's not controlled by temperature.

It runs for a while (15 minutes?) anytime after the ignition is turned to on.
