Well, the TT is in for it's first service
Items to be addressed:
1> 10K service with Mobil1
2> Rotate/Balance
3> Replace clips on driver side mirror
4> Replace clips on rear passenger side belly pan
5> Fix AM radio whine (the morse code thing with haldex grounding, whatever...)
6> Readjust driver side washer nozzle to aim at windshield (instead of rear hatch)
7> Try to fix trunk lights (they don't always come on when I open the hatch)
8> Replace clutch pedal (several of the rubber nubs have come off)
9> Program remote window up/down
10> Program 10MPH autolock
11> Do not wash car
So far so good --- they took the car and said they would look into each of these, then dropped me off at work. I'll report later how they did.

Huh?
You understand I'm talking about the interior lights in the trunk, right?
When I open the hatch the lights come on most of the time... but sometimes they don't.

Well, my glovebox is the same... but not the trunk >>>
I would assume that if I'm opening the glovebox, I'm probably in the car. And turning on the lights isn't a big deal.
But say I've been out shopping at night. I come up to the car and hit the trunk release on the remote. It opens, and no lights. I shouldn't have to get in the car and turn on the headlights first.

There's room in the glovebox for a lightbulb?!?
The interior trunk light seem random on my 02 roadster. It might have more to do if it's in the sun or shade/garage. The trunk marker lights near the latch are on when the headlights are on. I figured that one out on my own. :-)

Yep my bad....
They go on.
The scenario where they do not go on is if I release the trunk lid but don't open it for some time. In this case the lights go off, presumably to save battery power.
If I then lift the lid, the lights stay off. I have to close and re-open the lid to get them on again.
Sorry for the red herring!
