What is the brand filter that really gains hp? i mean who has been aproved by dyno that gains hp?

Nope, was actually reading that they say to keep these
dang things in for quite a while before cleaning. In my case, I'll probably have the new car before I need to worry about it. Also, two years expired on my emissions sticker...ha, I may turn this baby in without ever having taken it to emissions and it will still have the original blowtenzas on it... too good!

I always wondered about these bolt-on enhancements...
I'm reading one of these import tuner mags that showed an 11 hp gain on the dyno for a 99 Eclipse-T & a 4 hp gain for a 96 civic by only adding a cone filter and new intake pipe.
I used to think that a turbo would make the filter a moot point since the engine's inhalation wasn't as passive as a normally aspirated one.

no, you are looking at two different things . . .
ok in your case two/three different cars.
A cold air filter DOES work on most if not all Japanese cars. It does not work on the TT and most likely all Audis for a very good reason.
The Audis all have ECU's a much more sophisticated comptuer than the Japanese cars come with. The Audi ECU's have a limit for the A/F, timing, injectors, etc. Even the chip tuners set an artificial limit. I don't know the inner workings of the code for the ECU and will not purport to know it. But from what I have been told the ECU needs to be recoded for each and every change done to these cars. Unfortunately this is not easily accomplished.
The Japanese cars are not as highly tuned from the factory and their intakes are choked, so a cold air system works wonders on those cars. You will also notice that the Japanese car manufacturers still are producing cars that are easily tuned by companies such as HKS, GReddy and ApeXi to name a few. GReddy is working on something for the 1.8t so this is something that will eventually benefit those of us that are into modding our cars.
Hope this makes sense.
