Default I don't think so...

Think of the stereo Audi Concert stereo in the A4. When you adjust the bass and treble you have to have the button "out". When you are done adjusting you push the button back in. This does not disable the bass or treble, rather just make it flush with the component as you are finished twiddling....

Make sense?

Agreed - it would just make sense to me to have the indicators go off if heater is powered off ...

Default No, read inside...

The dial illuminates the 6 heat positions available for your heated seats. They will illuminate regardless of whether the button is exposed or recessed. When you dial back to the "OFF" position, the lights should go out

Default Dumber even, is the fact that they don't go off automatically ...

MB, Saab, and many other cars have a temp sensor -- when the temp reaches a certain point, it automatically turns off. This will keep you from needlessly having the passenger seat on, while no one is sitting there!

Default Re: Dumb question - Shouldn't the heated seat switch LEDs turn off when the heater button is pushed

My heaters work regardless of whether the button is in or out, which would explain why the LEDs stay on.
