What is the humming noise that comes on when the car is idling-sounds like a fan or pump?...

Just wonderin what it is. Heard it and sounds like a pump or maybe cooling fan but dont think its a fan? Runs for maybe 3-5 secs

If you are talking about intitial startup, it is a smog pump that

injects additional O2 in order to get the cats heated etc...

I love that humming noise, it makes my stock exhaust sound louder for a few minutes
