Wheel opinions needed...

I'm looking for something that is light and strong, smaller than 19's, yet won't be too expensive.

I'm not comfortable with my 19's in San Francisco. I'm paranoid about bending them, and it's really ruining my driving experience.

I found a wheel that fits into this category, the Enkei RP-F1...
they're strong (forged)
17.8lbs & $309 per for 18" and 15.6lbs & $257 per for 17"

Wondering if there were other options...
and if I should go 17" or 18"

Maybe I should go back to my stock fat 5's

Go back to stock, IMO they look better than the rims pictured and won't cost you any money.

Your roads can't be any worse than here....

Go with 18's. I have 19s on my a4 and i bend wheels like crazy...not to mention the tires I went through. It's so hard to go from 19s to anything smaller. On the TT i went with 18s just because it was alot less likely to have a bent rim or bust a tire. The 18s still look small to me. But I have not had to worry about bending a wheel or busting tires yet and the roads totally suck here.

what do you think about the enkei's?

jayel 05-31-2006 10:52 PM

yeah, i'm 50/50 on that

BBS VZ-Cast not forged, but 20.5 lbs and look great on the TT. $ 250 each.

WOW... I think those look great!

AxeYrCat 06-01-2006 05:15 AM

I've seen those on a Corrado, and even on the 'Rado, the spokes look too skinny.

I don't think they'd be particularly attractive on the TT.

I'm having the same dilema...

I currently have the 17" competition alloys on. I was looking for something different and also a lot lighter than the comps. I still want to stick to 17s though as there are a lot of cobbled roads around where I live and don't want to have my fillings shaken out. not to mention I've just splashed on 4 new tyres so don't really want to waste that.

so its a no go with the enkei's. How about the OZ Ultraleggera?

Never seen them on a TT.

Wished they still made the superleggera's
