Default when should I be thinking about brake pad replacement...

I have an 01 225QC with 29,000 miles. I'm not noticing anything wrong, I just like to stay on top of all maintenance items.

I just took the car in for the 30K service and they didn't see anything wrong with the brakes.

Wear indicators will let you know when it's time.

Default Dan, be sure that your REAR brakes...

and pads have been inspected. I completely ruined my rears and ended up needing new rotors and pads at the 38k mark.

It seems that the dealer didn't really inspect them after all, and luckily my warranty paid for the repairs. We've seen similar instances with other TT's on this forum as well.

valid statement for front brakes only - rears have no sensor.

Default $700!!!!!!! Duuuuude - was that at an Audi dealer?

I just purchased Zimmermans (cross drilled) from dtmautohaus (a pair) for $150 (including shipping) and then had them installed with pads and new fluid for another $150.

That sounds crazy expensive.
