Default who else is irritated by audi offering the tt in automatic?

anyone else annoyed by this news? i know that offering the automatic will improve tt sales, but personally i think one of the coolest properties of the tt is that it's only in stick -- kind of like an amusement ride where you need to be "at least this tall", i know that all the tt's i see on the road are driven by people who are actually enthusiasts (not to mention there's something special about ladies who prefer to drive stickshift :-)

i guess this is one of the downsides of capitalism -- appealing to the lowest common denominator.

They will only be sold on the 180 Fwd. I agree with you, it's ashame Audi is doing this.

Default Personally I really don't care..and don't see what the fuss is.

I love my TT because it's such a phenomenal car. Not a day goes by where I'm not glad I learned to drive stick and got it. (Yeah...the TT is the first stick I've owned. Though I could get around in a stick if I had to before, I was far from proficient.) If I had the choice to get an automatic now, I'd still get the manual. With this in mind, I really don't care if they offer an automatic, because it has zero effect on me. I bought the car to drive, not as a status symbol, so I don't care how many I see on the road. The more the merrier I say! I'll go on my way happily in my stick and anyone who wants to can enjoy their automatic. They probably won't even know what they're missing.

Default Actually, my sister is excited about it.

She doesn't drive a stick. She fell in love with my car when she saw it for the first time. The only reason that stopped her from buying a TT is because TT comes in the stick only. Now all she has to do is to wait for the automatic to come out. BTW, when is the automatic coming out anyway?

Default i think just the opposite is true

my point is: it becomes more of a status symbol if it's available in automatic because the barrier to entry becomes only money, rather than money and some interest in driving.

Default why won't your sister just learn stick?

i've never met a person who regretted learning stick. is it really that hard? why do women in particular seem to have some sort of aversion to it?

2003 tt models will have automatic as an option.
