Windshield Stress Crack...:-( Help...need advice...
Ok, I'm officially bummed out.
When I was on my way to work this morning, I noticed that there was an "L" shaped crack in my windshield. I never got hit with a rock there and it didn't show any signs of anything causing it. The crack starts directly above my rear-view mirror.
Anybody else have this problem? How did you get it fixed?
Yeah, the car is still under warranty, too...
I'm so discusted right now...

re: just find a reputable local windshield outfit and have them replace it... I don't think warranty
will cover it. As far as I know, the stress fracture problems of windshields were limited to the early production TT releases. However, your insurance does likely cover it and you'll just be out your deductible and insurance would cover the rest.

If it is truly a stress crack, it SHOULD be covered under warranty. If not, your insurance
may cover it, either included in your existing coverage package or for a small fee.
To add "free" windshield replacement/repair coverage to my insurance package, I only had to pay an additional $30 per year.

Mine was covered under warranty!
I have had mine replaced twice under warranty for stress cracks. Both started at the bottom of the windshield right in front of the instrument cluster. My first one happened while the car was sitting in the garage and had not been driven for several weeks. One day I pulled the cover off and the crack was there. Audi gave me no hassel and replaced it both times.

NO! Bring it to the dealer for warranty coverage.
That's what I did last week when I developed a very similar crack. Still waiting for the replacement to come, but the dealer checked it out and assured me of warranty coverage.
