I tried to hammer it today, and at about 4k in 3rd gear, it's like a rev-limiter came on. The car would not go any faster past 4k! I don't know about another Audi after all of this. These parts have a life span, but come on!!

Several of your vintage have failed. Info in the FAQ.

Check for cracked insulation on the wires...(short to ground)

what makes you think the CP's or the plugs are the problem?

Yeah...actually could be any number of things (like fuel)

all my coil wires show some bare spots yet no corresponding performance issues.

Mild misfires on starting. Vanished after warm up. Progressive worse as time whent on, but harness was a mess, 5 to 6 bare spots on each
