INVITE-
I'm helping organize the "beat the heat" North GA Mountain Drive with SE Chapter. Here's their website invite:

Registration is also there (for tracking purposes, no funds involved) .
Here is the invite-
North Georgia Mountain Drive
August 17th - 19th
The Southeast chapter is organizing a weekend of drives through the northern Georgia foothills. Hosting this event is the Cherokee Chapter.
The location for the event is the City of Dahlonega which is located in the foothills of the northeast Georgia Mountains approximately 70 miles north east of Atlanta. The population of Dahlonega is estimated to be 3700.
Dahlonega was incorporated December 21, 1833 and was the site of the first major gold rush in the United States. A US Branch Mint minted Half Eagle, Quarter Eagle, the Gold Dollar (72,529) and the Three Dollar Gold here between 1838 and 1861.
North Georgia College and State University founded in 1873 in the abandoned Mint Building was the first state-supported college in Georgia to grant a degree to a woman and is now one of 6 senior military colleges in the US with an enrollment of 3300 undergraduate and graduate students.
*****************************************
The basic schedule is this:
- Friday registration, dining, and a run over to the classic Tiger Drive-In in Tiger GA
- Saturday breakfast, drive to Black Rock Mountain state park in Clayton for a (Dutch) picnic, group shoot on the reserved overlook, and a vista that is unbeatable. That afternoon, we'll group up by preferences: waterfalls, wineries, or winding roads (or your combo: better than Wendy's!).
- Saturday night we're organizing dinner at the Oar House in Dahlonega.
- Sunday breakfast, and more individual or small group runs as we desire.
Come make friends with SE Chapter, get a break from the heat, and discover history and beauty in North GA.
Write me for a detailed plan and some mapping info.
