It will be way too hot out there for me in August. I might come out for a little bit and watch though.

Thanks for jumping into the fray. You must have replaced the downpipe then. Not concerned with CARB regs and smog inspections? Are you running a pure track car? Inquiring minds.

I'm glad to jump in and share my experience. Yes I'm concerned with CARB, I have a good relationship with my tuner so when smog time comes I will take it in and have stage 1 loaded, then smog. I have a 42 Draft Designs downpipe with cat, resonator, and stock after that. I had it checked after install and it passed with stage 1.

My car has 33000 miles currently. I want to encourage you to check the HPFP cam follower often, my car had 32200 when mine failed. The total cost to repair was $2700 but I had a worked HPFP installed for stage 2+ which was $800. New cam, cam follower, gaskets/seals, and 10 hours labor.

My tuner tells me that the smog tech will do a visual inspection for non CARB compliant parts such as a downpipe. Even if the emission test itself passes, they don't pass you. Sounds like you have a different experience.

I'm coming up on 18k miles. I changed the cam follower for good measure when I did the HPFP about 1k miles ago. Good advice.

That's true but with the stock cat back it sounds stock too. My county is pretty relaxed unlike other counties in this state. They would also have to jack the car to see the DP also. If I fail, it's not hard to swap DP's. Believe me I struggled with the decision to go stage 2 but the power is so addicting.
