APR Stage 2
Has anyone done the stage 2 apr tune on a tt? any downsides to it? the only thing i can think of would be not passing the emissions test.

Oh, oh, oh! Mr Kotter!
I purchased my 2011 TT late in 2017. Love it. Summer of 2018 I had the APR Stage 2 tune done. Love it. Adds some power down low and some more up top. Took it to Road America in the Fall for a track day. Power was good. Not enough to keep up with the Ferrari and Vettes, but good. I've had no issues with the tune while daily commuting, spirited rides on country roads, or at the track. I do not have emission testing to worry about. The car will still shift around 2000 RPM in regular diving. But when you get on it a bit or a lot, the car says 'okay, you want to play, alright we'll get up in the revs and have some fun.' The only downside was having to leave the car the night before at the race shop (an hour away from me) so it could cool off before they did their work and go back the next night to pick it up.

Downside: Citations and engine longevity (theoretically)
Upside: Smiles.
Be sure to do the DSG tune as well. Read the APR site for requisite hardware. I've done both the DSG and APR Stage II+. And the upcoming smog check is going to be a trick. I haven't worked that out yet.

I have the APR stage 2 tune and love the extra power. My car is a pure track car. Not a day driver, and it adds significant power. Ran at Barber (Birmingham) before and after the tune and the power difference is noticeable. Added 10 MPH to my peak straightaway speeds and gave great power out of the turns. So much so that I am re-learning my accelerator timing on the exits.
I stay manual on the track, so DSG unknown to me. Also no emission testing requirements.
