Has the TT-RS killed any chance of getting the R4?

Why would it? The R4 would be after the mk2's life cycle anyway
|
The better question is - will there ever be an R4?
|
the R4 has never been confirmed as an actual project...
although i'm still hoping it will be the equivelant of a "MK3".
generally....the RS models seem to emerge at the tail end of a body style's life cycle....so here's hoping the MK2 is on its way out soon....and the MK3 holds something totally different! |
I like the way you think... ;-)
|
RS cars now appear 3 years after initial launch and no longer at end of life cycle...
... thanks to a much expanded quattro GmbH. For example the RS6 Avant is a 2008 model (the A6 hit market MY 2005). The TTS is no different, and the MK2 will stay on market for the usual 7 years.

I hope for a TT Mk3.
Jarod. |
the last RS4 appeared in 2007. the B8 A4 was released in late 2008.
if this RS is released as a 2010 model, i'm pretty sure there will be a MK3 TT introduced as a 2011 or 2012 model....the life cycle of the MK2 will probably not go past 6 years...
|
The old RS 4 is irrelevant. That's why I specifically mentioned the RS6...
.... the RS 4 was made back when quattro Gmbh was smaller and could only produce 1 model at a time and RS models came out near the end a car's life cycle. But this is no longer the case. So citing the-out-of-producton RS 4 to make a point makes no sense.
Again, the RS 6 was released exactly 3 years after the A6. The TT RS comes out 3 years after the TT, and the RS5 will come out 3 years after the A5. This is the new rollout pattern. None of these models are expected to have a shortened life cycle. There is zero evidence pointing to a shorter-than-normal MK2 life span. It's fantasy. All I read here is biased opinion and ill-conceived theories. |
LOL. how is the RS4 irrelevant? it's not.
the only thing that seems to be fantasy at the moment is your 'theories' there IS a new A6 model coming....in 2010/2011.
the MK2 is most certainly NOT going to have as long of a lifespan as the MK1......there's no evidence to point out that it would. the MK1 was a total sensation...the MK2 was an attempt to continue the sensation...at which standard this can be argued i'm sure. 2011, there WILL be a new variant of a small Audi coupe introduced....whether you like it or not ;) |
