Default Increase tire sidewall - option?

2013 TTS with stock 19" wheels. Tire size is 255/35/19.

Can I go with 255/40/19 without adverse effects? It is a 1" overall increase (1/2" from edge of wheel to tread) and not wider. Just seeking to improve the ride somewhat and offset the $%^& roads we have here in Houston.

Thanks in advance.

If you wanted a taller sidewall, I'd consider going down a size to 18 inch wheels and tires and keep the same overall diameter as the 19's.

There are just too many issues/potential issues with just increasing the diameter by an inch.

I've used the site below to compare tire sizes.

Apparently, the beta site even recommends sizes.

I'll also be looking for meatier tires myself.

Practical experience — it Doesn’t work. I put the tires on and initially it was nice until the first sip in the road and immediate rubbing. Going back to stock size tomorrow.

I also have a '13 TTS with the stock wheels in the summer. I am in Massachusetts where, as they say, we have two seasons - winter and construction. I don't have too many issues with the 19" stock wheels in the summer. They may ride a little stiffer, but not that bad. In the winter I do go to a -1 configuration (18" wheel) for the higher sidewall, but the differences will depend more on the tires you choose than the height. With my snows (I swear by the Hakkapeliitta branded ones) I have a softer sidewall by design compared to any of the performance Michelins I would use and can see a bit of difference in the ride. Not sure if it would be as noticeable with two of the same performance tires.
