Roadster top issue
 

First thank you all for any help. I have a 2008 TT S Line 3.2l roadster with a top that no longer goes up or down. My dealer said the pump assembly needs to be replaced but from what I have read it is not uncommon to have the pump motor go bad and the repair can be simply replacing the motor versus the entire assembly. It is much less money to replace only the motor too. I have good mechanical aptitude and am considering trying to tackle this repair myself. I am assuming the motor/pump are buried in the trunk where the emergency pressure relief valve is at. I already have the silver access plate of this spot loose and I can see the unit appears to be in a black plastic box. My questions are do I in fact have the correct spot and has anyone else done a repair like this? I am wondering what I might encounter next. Again, thank you for any help.

It's probably not the hydraulic pump! It's the flap servos 99% of the time. Easy DIY fix, but you'll need a VAGCOM (VCDS) to run the Adaptation.
