Seat sagging issue
I spent some time with a long time Audi fanatic from Germany, very savvy individual that explained the seat sagging to me this way after I made the comment how come the seats in the Mk1's are so much better! His reply was they aren't any better but because of adding lumbar support in the seat and all the rest of the electric mechanicals, it's now stretching the crap out of the Seat Leather everytime you hit the seat bottons & re-position the Seat! And that causing the seats to sag. And this is why an 8 year old Mk1 seat is holding up so much better. No mechanical mechanism in the seats. It made perfect since to me after thinking about it.. So for those that purchased the electric seats don't be moving them all over the place.

Dang, too late...
I practically move my seat hourly as I'm still testing what seating positions suit me best.
And guess what, I've got a sagging driver's seat! But for some reason I don't really mind it.

Re:
Well we'll be able to very easily test out this theory because I got S-line Fine Nappa leather with no electrical's! well I got heated seats but that's what I had in my 01 225 TTQR too and those seat's had zero defects when I sold the car in 08. So if mine sag,, then the concept is wrong. It's that simple. But if they don't,,, then I got to believe he's right.

Not true...
The actual flaw is the shape of the seam. Leather stretches and contracts. Seams prevent stretching. The Mk2 has curved seams with large flat areas which hold the majority of your body weight. Add a wallet and it stretches even more. The Mk1 has uniform straight seams limiting stretching.

It has nothing to do with the mechanicals... The part that is stretching never even moves.

Oh and the reason why Alcantara doesn't stretch is...
... because it is a synthetic material with a structure backing for stability... Where the leather is just that... leather... which natural stretches.

Well we'll see in this TT I latched on to.
My 01 had optic baseball so it's obvious why they didn't sag but these are Nappa and with the seats being that soft I'm not holding out much hope that they won't sag just from sitting in them for prolonged periods of time or over time.
