should I get the factory short shift or an aftermarket one when the car comes?
Ordered a manual tranmission on the new buggy and the Dealer is charging the equivalent of US$300 for the factory short-throw shifter -any thoughts?

Never heard of it. Try it the way it is first. Love mine the way it is.

It is called "shorter shift travel for manual tranmission" by the factory, not available in US?

Re: It is called "shorter shift travel for manual tranmission" by the factory, not available in US?
here it is only available as part of the S Line package. I have it, and like it quite a bit.

Thx for the input - is it worth $300? I _loved_ the short throw on my Miata many years back...
|
I love mine, I just don't know if it's worth $300 by itself. I got mine with the S-Line.
I guess if no one else makes one, then you don't have much choice though.

Thx Zerin- ForgeMotorsports makes an adjustable one as well as a separate component to>>>
reduce side-to-side throw distance...
Over on the UK forums they mention that the factory short shift only offers a 2-3mm throw reduction - any thoughts?

http://www.forgemotorsport.com/content.asp?inc=product&catalog=010602&cat =010602</a

|
Honestly, I'd go that route. Side to side is just as important as front to back.
Not to mention its about 2/3rds the price!

Do you have the Audi part number for the "shorter shift travel"?
